Indian Premier League (IPL) season 13th was officially postponed for an indefinite period by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in April. The tournament was scheduled to start on 29th March but it could happen due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in India. Currently, the government of India has eased the lockdown restrictions in the fifth phase commencing from 1st June and it has further improved the chances of IPL 2020 happening later this year. In an interview with Sportskeeda on 1st June, the current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly was asked the question about the IPL regarding when will it happen and where will it be held. He said, “We can’t say what will happen in the days to come. It is tough to predict. We are looking at all options. We are still not sure when cricket could resume”.

This statement from Sourav Ganguly clearly states that the BCCI is cautious in terms of committing any official information regarding the plans of hosting the IPL later this year. It doesn’t mean that the officials in the apex body for cricket in India haven’t yet drafted any plans for the IPL as the lockdown restrictions are eased in India. Bettors can remain hopeful that the IPL can happen for this season sometime after the monsoon season. So availing the IPL Prediction tips from Bhaiji will allow the bettors to stay in touch with the latest information about the tournament.

BCCI president went into the details related to the current situation of the IPL 13th season by mentioning that, “If at all, IPL does happen, we don’t know where it could happen. India would certainly like to host the event, provided the environment is safe. Right now, we are not in a position to say anything. It is too early. We are yet to officially discuss the IPL schedule. But it depends on the safety of the environment. Saving human life and breaking the coronavirus chain are more important for all of us”.

With that, it can be clearly understood that the importance of playing cricket is secondary in comparison to saving the lives of everyone. At this time, the focus must stay on stopping the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the BCCI seems committed to that cause by not solely focusing on starting cricket in a hurry. Once the situation improves considerably, then the apex body for cricket in India can play the IPL with the prior approval from the government of India.
